This summer is all about superheroes. With the release of two brand new Superman and Fantastic Four motion pictures, new life is being blown into the iconic franchises. For Heroes Dutch Comic Con, this is the reason to put extra focus on the cultural impact of said superheroes during its upcoming summer edition on June 20, 21 and 22. The event announces ten leading comic creators, all of whom have played an important part in the rich history of “The Man of Steel” and “Marvel’s First Family”. Meet the talented comic Special Guests during the summer edition of Heroes Dutch Comic Con!

The fantastic comic creators behind the Fantastic Four
James Robinson is someone who knows a thing or two of great stories about the four superheroes. He wrote several comic books about the team in 2014. More recently, Eisner-Award winner Ryan North took on the task in a 29-part series. North is currently working on “One World Under Doom” about Fantastic Four supervillain Dr. Doom. The two writers will take visitors into the world of Fantastic Four during an interesting panel about what makes these characters so unique!

Writer Ron Marz also has the necessary experience with legendary Fantastic Four related characters! He began his career with a lengthy series of stories about the Silver Surfer. At the event, he will share more about the character in a panel devoted to explaine why it is such an essential part of the Fantastic Four mythos. Another one of our guests, Illustrator Jim Cheung, aside of hi best-selling work for Marvel in books like Avengers, Young Avengers and others, has also collaborated in Fantastic Four related series and he will be doing a live drawing of The Thing (Ben Grimm) during the event!

The supermen behind the superhero
If there’s one comic saga everybody outside of comics knows is ”The Death Of Superman”, and one of the artists who crafted that story will be with us at HDCC, the legendary Tom Grummett, also co-creator of Kon-El Superboy!!! Another key player in the world of DC Comics is Kevin Maguire, who is best known for his mythic run in the 1980s for “Justice League International”. During the event, Maguire will show attendees how to make a stunning drawing of Superman and the Justice League. Jesús Merino has played with both characters’ worlds, FF’s and Superman, aside of many other legendary works. After being a big hit last year with his Spider-Man Cookbok, writer Jermaine McLaughlin returns to the event to present his brand-new project, “Superman: The Official Cookbook”. and Julian Lopez (“Superman”, “JLA Classified”) will also be with us at the event and wait until you see the official poster of the show he’s created for all of you. You’re wanna run to get copies of that before he runs out of them!

World presentation, Los Monstruos, at Heroes Dutch Comic Con!
We’ve already announced both writer James Robinson and artist Jesús Merino will be two of our Special Guests during Heroes Dutch Comic Con, and during the show we’ll host a World Presentation of their brand-new series together, “Los Monstruos”! Los Monstruos is the name of an American city entirely populated with classic monsters from movies and folklore. Vampires, Man-Monsters, Werewolves, Mummies, and many other fantastic creatures starring Perry Cutter, werewolf P.I.! During that panel, there will be gifts, posters, and more. James and Jesus will be selling copies of the book at their tables and, in collaboration with publisher Dark Horse Comics, will sign an exclusive autograph card with every purchase of the book! Remember, they live two continents apart, so this might be your only chance!

Are you destined to become the latest comic artist at Marvel or DC?
For all aspiring comic artists, there is the unique opportunity to have their portfolio reviewed by two leading talent scouts and editors, respectively: Rickey Purdin, Talent Relations Director at Marvel, and DC Comics Editor Kathleen Wisneski will be in attendance to review visitors’ artwork and share insider tips and tricks for great writing, storytelling and comics.

Meet your heroes
All comic artists will be in attendance throughout the weekend during Heroes Dutch Comic Con. Visitors can ask questions and secure an autograph or unique artwork from their favorite artist. Additionally, a select group of 25 fans will get the chance to have a seat on the Comic Boat during a 2-hour ride through the canals of Utrecht, where, aside of getting drinks, snacks, and unique goodiebags, fans will be able ask our Special Comic guests everything about their work!
