From The Rookie to Once Upon a Time 

Mekia Cox is best known for playing Detective Nyla Harper in the hit TV series The Rookie. Since joining the show, she quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to her fearless attitude, sharp humor, and emotional performances alongside Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast.

Fantasy fans will also recognize Mekia from Once Upon a Time, where she portrayed Princess Tiana and Sabine. Her role brought Disney magic to life in the beloved fantasy series and made her a memorable addition to the world of fairy tales and adventure.

Besides these fan-favorite roles, Mekia has also appeared in popular series such as Chicago Med, 90210, Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, and CSI: NY.

A performer with many talents

Before her acting career took off, Mekia trained as a dancer and performer. She even appeared in Michael Jackson’s This Is It, performing alongside the King of Pop himself. Her background in dance and musical theatre helped shape her into the versatile entertainer fans know today.
