SHOW YOUR PORTFOLIO

We have the pleasure of welcoming a guest editor at Heroes Dutch Comic Con. This is a very exclusive opportunity for upcoming Comic Artists, as they will get a chance to present their portfolio.

Showing your portfolio to this renowned editor is a chance of a lifetime. The editor is the one who can give you valuable professional feedback on your work. They will be present at Heroes Dutch Comic Con to review all portfolios throughout the day. Use his experience to your advantage to grow even more!

WHO WILL REVIEW MY WORK?

This edition, Christina Harrington will be reviewing your portfolio!

Christina is a comic book editor with over a decade of experience in the industry. She cut her teeth on books like Mockingbird and All-New Wolverine at Marvel Comics, before making the leap to the indie sector. Currently, she is the senior editor in charge of Maverick, the YA imprint from Mad Cave Studios, where she edits graphic novels that reflect the lives of today’s teens.

Each portfolio has to have a minimum of 6 pages, and a maximum of 15 in A4 size. To demonstrate your full range of qualities, we recommend that you to create

  • Three pages based on people talking, people standing, things of regular life.
  • Three pages with pin-ups, covers and illustrations.

Make sure these pages are copies, and not originals!
Your portfolio must also include a curriculum vitae as its page one (behind the cover).

FAQ: Portfolio review

We´ll leave a box / bucket on the editor’s table at the Comic area for you to leave your portfolio.

Make sure your portfolio are copies only (never originals!), and in A4 size, with a curriculum vitae included after the cover.

If you’re bringing an inking portfolio, please make sure to bring along your finished inked page side-by-side with the original pencil drawings you worked over. This proves how well you enhance another artist’s work.

If you are a colorist, you must include the original black-and-white page alongside your colored version. This shows exactly how your colors added depth, lighting, and mood to the line art.

If you are a penciller, you only need to show your original pencil drawings.

You should provide a cover with an illustration, your full name or “nom the plume” and contact information.

You should provide your full name and contact info (phone number and email) of the creator at the top of each page.

Everyone is allowed to leave their portfolio! However, not everyone will be picked for an afterwards meeting to discuss any feedback regarding the review.

All selected artists will be asked to show their ID once they have been picked.
