Actress Lana Parrilla returns to HDCC Winter 2023!

Of Italian and Puerto Rican descent, Lana Parrilla spent her childhood in Brooklyn, New York.  At a young age, she made numerous home videos with her family and especially with her aunt, who is a working actress.  Lana’s family supported her natural inclination to perform, however with her determination no one was going to stand in the way of her passion.  Parrilla graduated from high school and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles to study her craft and began to appear in local theatre productions.

She quickly became a fan-favourite working exclusively for DC Comics on iconic characters such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and team titles “Birds Of Prey”, “Secret Six”, “Teen Titans” and New York Times Bestseller “Earth 2”. 2016 saw the launch of her critically acclaimed creator-owned Image Comics maxi-series ‘Black Magick’ and DC’s ‘Wonder Woman: Year One’ to celebrate the characters 75th anniversary, both in collaboration with writer Greg Rucka.

Phil Jimenez will be visiting HDCC

Phil Jimenez is an Eisner, Inkpot, Diamond, and Wizard award-winning writer and artist who has worked for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and a host of other comic book companies for nearly 30 years. A former student and later instructor at NYC’s School of Visual Arts, Jimenez is best known for his work on Tempest, The Invisibles, JLA/Titans, New-X-Men, Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, Amazing Spider-Man, Otherworld, and WonderWoman: Historia with author Kelly Sue DeConnick.

Kelly Sue DeConnick is coming to HDCC!

Kelly Sue DeConnick’s work spans stage, comics, film and television. Ms. DeConnick first came to prominence as a comics writer, where she is best known for reinventing the Carol Danvers as “Captain Marvel” at Marvel and for the Black Label standard-setting Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons at DC. Her independent comics Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly (both from Image Comics) have ranked as New York Times best-sellers and been honored with Eisner Awards, British Fantasy Awards and Hugo nominations.

Superstar Elijah Wood announced as Special Guest during Heroes Dutch Comic Con

The American-born Elijah Wood (1981) has been in the acting business for a long time and has earned his stripes as a child actor with several noteworthy roles, including a small part in ‘Back to the Future Part II’ (1989). His career took off after the incredible success of the Oscar-winning ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. Following his role as the hobbit Frodo Baggins, Wood enjoyed successes in ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ (2004), ‘Sin City’ (2005) and television series ‘Wilfred’ (2011—2014), among others. The actor has also lent his voice to several projects, including the Oscar-winning animated film ‘Happy Feet’ (2006), where the actor can be heard as the tapdancing penguin Mumble.

On November 18 and 19, 2023, the doors of the Jaarbeurs Utrecht will open once again for a weekend entirely dedicated to pop culture. We kick off ticket sales for the early bird tickets on September 22, with a limited number of tickets available at a reduced rate. What’s new this year is that early bird ticket holders for this upcoming edition will have the first access to ticket sales for the 2024 summer edition.

Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics, C.B. Cebulski, is coming to Heroes Dutch Comic Con along with all the Marvel Stormbreakers!

As Editor-in-Chief, C.B. Cebulski oversees all day-to-day editorial and creative aspects of Marvel’s publishing division since he was appointed in November 2017. This includes driving the overall editorial creative vision, shaping the larger story direction of the Marvel Comics line-up, and bringing to Marvel the world’s best and brightest writers and artists. Additionally, Mr. Cebulski is furthering Marvel’s efforts to expand the publishing division internationally, helping forge partnerships and create original projects with Panini, Scholastic, Shueisha, Abrams, Sigongsa and Naver/Webtoons.

Orli Shoshan, also known as Shaak Ti in Star Wars Episode II and Episode III, is our fourth Special Guest!

Orli played the exotic Elian, Jedi Master, Shaak Ti in “Star Wars Episode II and Episdoe III”. Shaak Ti is a popular character you can find celebrated through many action figures, LEGO sets, comic books and video games. While in Australia she would work in other major television shows such as “The Wheel of Fortune-Australia” presenting prizes, and an exercise & fitness program “Aerobic OZ style “.

Visitors of Heroes Dutch Comic Con: the speed dates are back and better than ever before! The pop culture event is teaming up with dating app Fruitz to make the speed dates even more fun and fruity. Rod Reis is the last Comic Artist for Heroes Dutch Comic Con!

Rod Reis started his comic-book career in the early 90’s as color artist for DC COMICS. This is where he worked on books as Superman, Aquaman and Justice League for almost 15 years. Then he published two creator-owned books at Image Comics as an interior artist and because of them Marvel hired him to illustrate Captain America, Doctor Strange, Winter Soldier. Currently, he’s the ongoing artist on New Mutants. Watch his work here!
